Azzura Marine

Our first CakePHP implementation, Azzura Marine is a vibrantly designed site that feeds viewers images of its yachts through a cycling soft-fade. Each page displays its own images specific to its content. Azzura Marine aggregates news items from a WordPress backend, as well as having a staff-only section that requires staff to login. It also contains an admin backend to edit the contents of pages or change Brokerage items.

Azzura Marine is a combination of many wonderful technologies that has allowed for a speedy and efficient development time, while providing astounding results. It is built on top of the CakePHP framework utilising the Wildflower CMS as a base, which allows for the majority of the content on the site to be editable by Azzura Marine through a web-interface.

We used this same interface to allow them to administer the Brokerage section of their site as well - allowing them to add, edit, delete, and manage the images of Yachts that they are selling. All of this means they save money as they can make changes themselves, rather than having to go through us whenever a change is required. Changes are also immediate.

Azzura Marine also required a staff-only section of the website which we built using CakePHP and the administrative backend in the same web-interface - this keeps all the administrative aspects of the site contained in the one location.

The news items that appear on the home page and the news section are gathered from a WordPress backend that is used on another site they own (Azzura Yachts). Rather than having multiple points of news entry, this allows Azzura Marine and Azzura Yachts news to be entered in the one location, with different site news being tagged differently to appear on the different sites. WordPress is already an excellent frontend for entering news items, so why reinvent the wheel?

The cycled fading images on each page is powered by jQuery and the jQuery Cycle plugin.
